For professionals working in Thailand for qualifying organisations, institutions or companies within the relevant targeted industries or expertise areas.
Spouses and eligible dependents of LTR Visa holders may also qualify under the relevant dependent category.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
What Are the Main Eligibility Requirements?
Each LTR category has different qualification criteria. Your eligibility depends on your financial position, employment or professional profile, and the category that best matches your circumstances.
Wealthy Global Citizen
Applicants should meet the requirements relating to worldwide assets and qualifying investment in Thailand. The current criteria no longer include a personal income requirement for this category.
Wealthy Pensioner
Applicants must be over 50 years old and meet the required passive income criteria. Applicants with a lower qualifying income may also need to meet the additional investment requirement in Thailand.
Work from Thailand Professional
Applicants should work remotely from Thailand for a qualifying overseas employer and meet the relevant personal income criteria. The current criteria no longer require a minimum period of previous work experience.
Highly Skilled Professional
Applicants should work for a qualifying organisation in Thailand within a targeted industry or qualifying area of expertise and meet the relevant income and professional qualification criteria. The current criteria no longer require a minimum period of previous work experience.
LTR eligibility criteria are assessed according to the category you apply under. Additional evidence may be requested depending on your circumstances.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS
What Documents May Be Required?
LTR applicants need to provide personal documents together with evidence that supports their chosen qualification category. The exact documents depend on your LTR category and individual circumstances.
Personal Documents
A valid passport, recent passport photograph and other personal identification documents may be required. Passport copies should meet the applicable LTR requirements.
Financial Documents
Financial evidence may include bank statements, proof of assets, investment evidence or income evidence, depending on the LTR category.
Employment & Professional Documents
Applicants under the Work-from-Thailand Professional and Highly Skilled Professional categories may need employment certificates, employment contracts, company information and professional qualification documents relevant to their category.
Health & Other Supporting Documents
Health insurance or an accepted alternative may be required. Depending on the category and individual circumstances, additional documents such as medical or other supporting evidence may also be requested.
The required documents depend on your LTR category. BOI or relevant government agencies may request additional information or documents during the qualification review.

What Are the Financial Requirements?
Financial requirements vary significantly between the four LTR categories. The relevant income, assets and investment requirements depend on the category that matches your circumstances.
Wealthy Global Citizen
Applicants generally need worldwide assets of at least USD 1 million and qualifying investment in Thailand of at least THB 500,000.
Wealthy Pensioner
Applicants over 50 generally need passive personal income of at least USD 80,000 per year.
Applicants with annual income between USD 40,000 and USD 80,000 may qualify when the additional investment requirement is met.
Work from Thailand Professional
Applicants generally need personal income of at least USD 80,000 per year.
Applicants earning between USD 40,000 and USD 80,000 may qualify under specific conditions, including additional educational or investment qualifications.
Highly Skilled Professional
Applicants generally need personal income of at least USD 80,000 per year.
